The chips 555 are a family of integrated circuits that are used for signal generation and as timers. In the time-delay or monostable mode operation, the time interval can be controlled with a resistor and external capacitor. In the astable mode of operation the frecuency and duty cycle can be controlled independently with two external resistors and a single external capacitor. The threshold and trigger levels are two-thirds and one-third, respectively, of the supply voltage applied.
