This power supply uses transistors which operate in switching mode to transform alternating current into direct current.

Contrary to voltage regulators with polarized transistors, switching power supplies can be built with smaller size and weight.

They are also more efficient and thus produce less heat. However, it integrates a circuit that deactivates the power supply when overheated, as well as an internal fan that connects itself when necessary.
