The ABS thermoplastic (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) is very robust even at low temperatures . It is also hard, rigid and resistant to abrasion. It is used, for example, for building the LEGO blocks.


This plastic is suitable of suffering warping if the heated bed is cold, but this problem can be solved in different ways:


• Print over Kapton tape and a bed that has been pre-heated to 248 °F.
• Print over a crystal heated bed at 176 °F using lacquer that varies its properties with temperature.
• Print over BuildTak surface, pre-heated from 60ºC to 90ºC

ABS is soluble in acetone. It does not support UV rays. The color can fade and the plastic can become brittle.
